There are payphones at the five Info Points scattered around the site. There used to be huge queues to use the phones, but with the proliferation of mobile phones, things are now much easier. As there is a much smaller number of public phones this year, please make only short calls when there is a queue.
Orange (one of the event sponsors) set up extra transmission capabilities to try and ensure there is enough coverage for mobile phone users on their network. They also have a tent on site where you can charge your phone (of any make/service) for the cost of a small donation to charity.
As this is a rural area with a low population, and cows don't have much use for mobiles, the capacity of the normal transmitters may not be up to the thousands who arrive for the Festival. We suggest that mobile phone users check with their providers to see what level of service will be expected, especially capacity, and lobby accordingly.
Top-up cards and swipe cards are likely to be available this year, possibly a Glastonbury special.
