Glastonbury Festival is a great place for children !
Why ?
Because all children aged 12 and under are admitted FREE as long as they are accompanying a ticket-holding adult ! There is no limit on the number of kids per adult, within the discretion of the Gate staff. And once in the Festival site, all childrens' activities are free too !
Because the Kidz Field at Glastonbury is a HUGE Kids' Festival within the Festival, featuring top names from the world of childrens' entertainment and loads of activities for kids of all ages. Click here for info for 2002.
Because as well as the Kidz Field there is also the Green Kids Area, situated in the Green Fields, with lots of alternative entertainment and activities.
Because many of the morning shows in the Theatre and Circus Fields, and lots of the workshops, welcome children.
Because there are kids' activities in the Tipi Field too.
Kids will, in general, have a great time. Obviously the main concern is becoming separated from them. Give your kids the same advice you would if you were anywhere else : don't go off with strangers or anyone without telling you first, if they get lost ask for help from a policeman, a security steward, another adult with children, or one of the Information points.
Remember what your kids are wearing : it is much easier to help give a description !
If you lose your children ask for advice at any Info point.
Found kids are looked after at the Kidz Field until 8pm. Then they are taken to Waggonshed Welfare, by the Farmhouse. Neither are creches!
Remember that the big crowds around the main stages can be very daunting for children, and you are more likely to lose your kids in a dense crowd. Generally there are so many other things to do : work out with a partner or friend to be with the kids whilst you are at the Pyramid for that must-see idol !
There are no creche facilities. You should make arrangements within your group of friends and partners for someone to be supervising your kids at all times, even in the Kidz Field.
The Kidz Field is one of the nicest fields on the festival site - make sure all you big kidz take a few minutes to appreciate it!
