This information relates to Glastonbury Festival 2003
Here in East Holts you will find the tremendously successful Cabaret Tent with sitting and standing room for an audience of 2,500. The Cabaret Tent will be open from 11.00 a.m. each morning until 1.00 or 1.30 a.m. on each of the 3 days providing a non-stop presentation of performances by the best of Britain and oversees comedians, interspersed with energetic musical interludes and the odd spot of "variety".
The Cabaret opens each morning at 11.00 a.m. with the rousing and energising sounds of either the Weapons of Sound or Rhythm Wave. Both these groups are huge favourites with our audiences, and one or the other will also play at about 6.00 p.m. each evening when we find our audiences start to wilt and need revivifying - this music certainly does that! Enjoy!
Your compares in the Cabaret Tent will be Arthur Smith, Andy Smart, Malcolm Hardee, Craig Campbell and Cary Marx, and they will be introducing a tremendous list of stand-up comedians including:
Phil Kay Chris Green as the splendid Ida Barr on Friday and as Tina C. on Saturday Steve Gribbin, Ross Noble, Stewart Lee, Jeff Green, Andy Parsons, Ed Byrne, Tommy Staid, Ian Cognito, Mitch Benn and the..., Brendan Burns, Bill Bailey, Glen Wool, Andrew Maxwell, Dave Johns, Woody Bop Muddy, Boothby Graffoe, The Greatest Show on Legs, Dave Johns, Jarred Christmas, Al Pitcher, Ben Norris, Simon Munnery, Nick Wilty, Bastard Son of Tommy Cooper plus many more.
To counteract and lighten all the above maleness, we are very pleased to present some excellent women comedians:
Hester Goodman (a drunk and unpleasant Mary Poppins), Helen Kayne (Marilyn Monroe), Cathy from Swank, Nina Conti, Susan Murray, Harriet Bowden, plus many more to be announced.
Poetry and the spoken and sung word are also well represented with performances by:
Attila the Stockbroker (who will as usual run from 2.00 p.m. until 3.00 p.m. with the inimitable John Otway), Murray Lachlan-Young, Rory Emotion, Joolz, Britain's foremost woman spoken word artist.
Apart from the afore-mentioned Rhythm Wave, Weapons of Sound and John Otway, there will be additional musical interludes from: Abutta, Caroline Parker, The Big Hum, Den Levett, Jason Webley and others.
