Dance Tent

The hills are alive with the sound of hip hop. . . .

And breakbeat plus house in all its myriad forms. In fact, every sub-genre of dance music you care to name.

Since its inception in 1995, the Dance Tent has aimed to offer something for all fans of repetitive beats. And we’ve certainly had our moments over the years.

Who can forget Fatboy Slim’s appearance back in 1999 when just getting within 200m of the tent was an impossibility? Since then, Our Norm’s played the Dance Tent many times as well as a stack of world class DJs including Jon Carter, Terry Francis and Seb Fontaine. Headliners in 2004 include Dave Clarke and Fergie.

Our Disco Day on Saturday this year promises to be one of the glitziest extravaganzas the festival has ever witnessed with a host of disco legends playing.

And it’s not just boring old DJ Moody hunched over the decks. There’s live PAs a-plenty plus full-blown live sets. Kelis, Misteeq, The Streets, Zero Seven and Massive Attack are just some of the acts who’ve played live in the Dance Tent in recent years with Kosheen, Ozomatli and GoldieLookinChain all booked for 2004.

And it’s not all Ravey Davey in the audience either. Many of the people who come to the Dance Tent are ordinary people just like you and I.

So come and find us. We’re a big blue thing (often vibrating) and you’ll find us between the two main stages and the perimeter fence.
