Around the Festival site are a number of 'Faith Zones'.
Each are run by either Hari Krishna followers, Christians and for the first time at the Festival - a Jewish Tent.
These places offer hospitality and sanctuary and some welfare for those in need. You will not be hassled to join in any acts of worship or other activities run by the tents. However for those who wish to, any may join in these occasions. They are all at the Festival to offer YOU a service and are open to all regardless of any faith or none.
So who is there?
THE SANCTUARY Near the Farm – offers hospitality and a welcome to any who are in need. Simple sleeping arrangements can be used at the tent. Services take place during the day. The tent is run by Christians of all flavours. See tent for details of Service times. Mass is held on Saturday night.
HARI KRISHNA Offer food and some simple welfare – you don't have to find them they will come and find you. It is unlikely that you will get through the weekend without them passing close by on their mission to spread light and happiness, with bells and chants.
ELEMENTAL Alternative Christianity – on the Edge. A place to lunch out, rest from the hectic pace of festival life and to participate in some events and celebrations. "This is church, Jim, - But not as we know it"!
JEWISH TENT
This is a first for the festival, and we look forward to posting more information about this on the website.
CORACLE
Run by the Quest Community of Glastonbury. They are here well before and after the festival to help in whatever way they can. They offer a safe space to "veg out" and "be" in the healing field.
They all are here as places of rest from the hectic pace of Festival life. Come and see us.
Words: Rev Graham Witt, Vicar of Meare.
