"For all of those who can't make it to the festival the webcasts are a great alternative. The internet provides a fantastic way of promoting the music and ideals of Glastonbury Festival to a worldwide audience" -- Michael Eavis.
Whether you watched from a sunny Somerset field or just in front of your monitor, it's easy to say that this was the best year ever for the festival, and one that went SO smoothly that the future looks very bright indeed. Almost 90,000 of you joined us from far flung places like Israel, Norway, the Phillipines, America, and Iceland for PlayLouder's fourth year in a row (yes, 2001 included!) webcasting the Glastonbury Festival.
The webcasts and the highlights programme have now gone the way of festival itself - oh-so-memorable but sadly gone for another year. This year you armchair heroes saw full performances from Interpol, Suede, Doves, Electric Six, Sigur Ros, David Gray, Flaming Lips, Super Furry Animals, Macy Gray, Idlewild, Feeder, and Supergrass!
2003 is PlayLouder's fourth year running as the webcast partner for Glastonbury Festival. In 2000 PlayLouder webcast memorable performances from Basement Jaxx, Badly Drawn Boy, Muse, Feeder, Dandy Warhols, Elastica, Semisonic, The Beta Band, and many others. In 2001 when the Festival took a year off, PlayLouder teamed up with Glastonbury to present Glastonbury 2001, the world's first virtual festival, featuring live performances by Stereophonics, Basement Jaxx, and Gorillaz as well as classic Glastonbury archive appearances from Coldplay, Blur, Pulp, REM and Orbital amongst others. 2002 saw webcasts from the likes of Idlewild, The Dandy Warhols, The White Stripes, Doves, Ash, Orbital, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Elbow, Badly Drawn Boy, The Beta Band and Lost Prophets.
