Echo and The Bunnymen

Liverpool's finest

Pyramid Stage - Friday

Despite the constant drizzle and an early start, enigmatic Echo and the Bunnymen frontman Ian McCulloch and his cohorts deliver an uplifting performance on the Pyramid stage. And Ian’s in a humorous, chatty mood between songs, blethering on about football, Michael Eavis’s lack of moustache, Liverpool and, er, the weather.

The set list is spot-on, including crowd-pleasing classics The Cutter and Killing Moon, and a gorgeous, rainy rendition of Nothing Lasts Forever, which includes a brief snippet of Walk on the Wild Side.

We’re also treated to some bizarre dancing from Ian, who looks genuinely happy to be up there, and the band nearly run overtime due to his constant chatter. Great band, great songs, magical early Glasto performance.
