There is probably no better place to start for the music of Glastonbury Festival than the Acoustic Stage. The tent is filled with a mixture of people looking to relax to sublime sounds, to be inspired by ancient melodies and to get out of the sunshine/rain (delete as applicable).
The opening artists were Paul Armfield and the Four Good Reasons, who hail from the Isle of Wight. Paul was a local double bass player that local label "A Town Full of Fonzies" decided to put everything behind. This has paid off with an opening Glastonbury set and an album described as "one of the best 10 albums ever recorded" by Germany's largest newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung.
Hype aside, this band made a delicate and evocative sound, original and drawing on a diverse range of instruments. They also draw on a wide range of roots influences from Country, European Jazz, Soul, Berliner Cabaret and Tango, a mix which they call folk noir, played on double bass, guitars, accordians, mandolin, banjo and keyboards.
