Spam

Spam, the unlikely name of the fairy-like proprietor of Mana Mana is on a mission this weekend. Busy as you like in a corner of the Making Things tent in the Kidz field, she is hoping to produce, by Sunday, a giant papier-mâché caterpillar-type creature to parade around the festival with the help of all the little pairs of hands who assisted along the way.

‘They just love getting stuck in’ said a sticky-fingered helper surrounded by strips of paper and huge balloons. And that seems to be the general consensus amongst the adults whose workshops cater for this kind of children’s entertainment. Anything that involves cutting, gluing, sticking, painting and getting messy is like a magnet to the very young.

Spam is so convinced that workshops are a great thing that she has given up her job and opened a company to run Princess and Snow Queen workshops. If you’re interested you can reach her on [email protected]
