Fagan It!

This page is provided only for information, it does not apply to the 2002 festival.
Kicking off events on the acoustic stage this year were Steely Dan covers band cunningly titled Nearly Dan. I caught up with them briefly backstage to find all ten members (yes ten) rushing around trying to find one another. When they eventually did, they launched straight into a great set of Donald Fagan/Walter Brecker Classics, including Do it Again, Reeling In the Years, and Rickki Don't Loose That Number.
Although not 100% acoustic (I could have sworn I saw the odd synthesizer and a couple of electric-guitars up there) the crowd escaping the midday sun really got into the laid back, jazz-funk music they heard. Bestowed with the honour of being the only covers band to play at Glastonbury over the weekend, Fagan and Brecker were done proud. You can catch the real Steely Dan when they tour the UK this September. Phil Jones
