Go to the pages for the stages and choose a band to go and see that you like the sound of. The diversity of acts make Glastonbury Festival what it is, so make sure you try someone you don't know! 13th June 2000 John C Scott takes over the running of the website, as we gear up to produce lots of content during the weekend. Prizes in the post ! 10th June 2000 : Drop the Debt campaign will launch a major internet lobby of World Politicians at Glastonbury this year; you'll be able to participate at the PlayLouder tent, the Drop the Debt tent, and at Jazzworld merchandising. See especially Dance (More ...) and the Greenpeace Stage (More ...) 9th June 2000 : As part of their coverage of this year's Festival, BBC2 are showing a film documenting the past year in the life of the festival's organiser Michael Eavis. The programme is entitled Glastonbury Man, is scheduled for June 24, while the festival is actually taking place, and filming for it is expected to be completed just three days earlier on site. Already Travis, Cerys Matthews, Thom Yorke, Billy Bragg and Robert Plant as well as various members of the Festival staff have shared their thoughts on the nation's favourite farmer, and programme will also include clips from the 1971 film Glastonbury Fayre, directed by Nic Roeg and capturing the festival in only its second year, when a significantly younger David Bowie made his first appearance at Worthy Farm. 9th June 2000 : Plans for a simple partner WAP site during the Festival are under way. Have you won the website competition ? There will be a redraw tomorrow if the winner doesn't reply by 5pm ... 7th June 2000 : Plans for the WEBCASTS are now emerging. You will need Quick Time to view them ... a short demo video of footage from last year's festival will be available from Thursday next ... 7th June 2000 : Late line-up changes - Burt Bacharach has withdrawn through illness, a broken collarbone. His replacement has not yet been announced. Brand New Heavies are confirmed for the Pyramid Stage. Bent have withdrawn from Jazzworld, replaced by Decibelle All Stars. The full artists database and further line up confirmations for smaller stages will be published this weekend, along with the printable updated site map ! 31st May 2000 : Full line up details will be announced late tomorrow. 25th May 2000 : Erection (stop sniggering at the back) of the new Pyramid Stage is completed today at 11am. A massive crane will winch the final sections into place. The galvanised steel structure will then stand 100 ft high. During the event's 30 year history, the pyramid has come to symbolise the festival's magic. The new structure has been designed and built by Pilton villager Bill Burroughs. Bill's inspiration was The Great Pyramid at Giza, Eygpt. Robert Plant, who has played on the old Pyramid stages and appears at Glastonbury 2000 will perform on the new stage today ! More ... 5th May 2000 : Website news - we have entered into an arrangement with playlouder.com as official internet partners for Glastonbury 2000. This is enabling this website to bring you simultaneous webcasts of acts at the festival, as well as regular online reportage, interviews, reviews and photos. The webcast will include four acts a day selected from the main four music stages plus several bands each day from the New Bands Tent. There will also be a post-festival extensive compilation. More on this as it is developed. 5th May 2000 : The musicunsigned.com competition to select 2 acts for the New Bands tent is now online. More ... 4th May 2000 : Michael Eavis hosted an auction at The End last night, of work by Kurt Jackson, the artist in residence at Glastonbury 1999. 15 paintings were offered, and more than �30,000 was raised for Oxfam and Greenpeace. The auction continues online for the next 4 days. Click here. 1st May 2000 : It has been confirmed that website users will have the opportunity to elect two bands to appear on the New Bands Stage at Glastonbury 2000. The vote has been organised in collaboration with musicunsigned.com who have nominated the six acts, who are Benn, Nick Walker, Later, The Genteels, Soop, and User. Full details will go live on the site on Thursday this week, and you will have the chance to listen to a complete Real Audio track by each band, and to read something by or about them. Voting will take place from 10th May onwards.
