Avalon - Thursday
Welcome to Glastonbury and the Avalon Field
It is now seven-thirty, Thursday evening. I think. I've not slept since the night before last, my tent still isn't pitched and I've grudgingly remembered everything I've forgotten. So this is Glastonbury? The Pyramid Stage is looking impressive and as the confirmations begin to outweigh the rumours, the line-up is looking strong. But what else lurks where the T.V. cameras won't be running. In Glastonbury you can travel a long way by crossing from one field to another. One such field is Avalon.
Over the next few days you can follow the events in Avalon, here, on this website. Highlights include John Martyn, Rolf Harris, Nick Harper and The Egg, to name but four. The Avalon Field shows the quality behind the main stages at Glastonbury. Read. Watch. Listen. Appreciate. Enjoy. For tomorrow we start....

Avalon - Friday
And so it begins....
Its Friday, the festivals started, the music is blaring, the people have arrived. Hurrah! As the weather imnproves and the mud becomes sticky and hard the day gets better and better. I've been people hunting around Avalon and met some fantastic
festival frequenters around and about. The music has started, I've been pottering around listening to a few bands, have a look at the reviews. I'm now content, writing, safe in the knowledge that despite quite a dodgy set, Robert Plant's still got it.

Avalon - Saturday
Settling in....
Today the whole Field of Avalon has started to buzz. The whole place is a lot better attended, mostly due to the legend himself - Rolf Harris - the whole field was full of people all the way down to the stalls. He played his new single twice, and that was the song that seemed to go down the best. Anyway, somebody else is reviewing him so I'd better leave them to it. A few more words though, there was a much greater press presence in the backstage last night, obviously drawn by Rolf, but its a shame they haven't been to see bands like the Baghdaddies and Shooglenifty, who need the attention, and probably deserve it more.
Rant over. What else have I been up to? The music has been great today, I've been to see Nick Harper and John Martyn as well as Rolf. Most enjoyable, I must say, have been various reunions, bumping into people is fantastic! It must be a glastonbury thing. Enjoy the day, do well.

Avalon - Sunday
cheerio, cheerio, cheerio.....
And Michael Eavis came down and he said, although it has been wonderful, and though twas good, and we all had a good time, it is time to go. And verily did they walk in chest to chest towards their shelter and that night and the ones that followed they did.
On Saturday your thinking, 'oh wow its only Saturday' and on Sunday you think 'oh my god its Sunday already'. Yes. its gone quickly this year, as it always does. Good year though, good year. I managed to take a walk up the hill by the pyramid stage and look back at the whole site, quite different to how it looked when I arrived Thursday morning.
So its good bye to Avalon. Did you see the mexicans on firebreathing horses tonight? I hope you've all had as good a time as I have, see you next year.
