Construction of the new Pyramid Stage is now complete. The galvanised steel structure stands 100 ft high; for those of a metric persuasion, the footprint is approx 40m x 40m. During the event's 30 year history, the pyramid has come to symbolise the festival's magic. The new structure has been designed and built by Pilton villager; Bill Burroughs based on The Great Pyramid at Giza, Eygpt.
This will be the third pyramid stage and it will be four times larger than its previous incarnation. The last Pyramid stage burnt down in 1994.

Michael Eavis said, "I can promise that the return of the Pyramid will be something special. This is the third one, the biggest ever and we really have got it right. It is going to be third time lucky. The Pyramid is unique and we hope that it will add to the festival's magic. It has cost over 150,000 and it's a real commitment to future shows"
Photos of the old Pyramid stages are available from the Glastonbury Press Website. Video footage is also available. Bonafide print/broadcast media should email the press office for details.
