The Glade: Day 2
|
Under the most spectacular sunrise of the year so far, The Glade was alive with sounds of the Gaia Space DJ's. The dome was pulling in a huge crowd amidst the trees, the graffiti artist had finished for the night and area was filled with bouncing smiling faces all round. This was a good start to the day.
The Glade Stage held some classic moments in the afternoon as Earth Tribe hit the stage to deliver some serious "Asian ethno cyber funk" as they like to put it. Early pioneers in the field of Asian underground dance, their set is a powerful thing to behold. As the Earth Tribe left the stage, the first downer of the day happened.

The special guest, rumoured to have been Paul Oakenfold, pulled out and went home. The situation was rescued by some top stand-in DJs and an early start for Eat Static. Bubbling sounds of driving dance and psychodelic samples are the trade mark off this off-shoot of the mighty Ozric Tentacles. No festival seems complete with out them.

Over in the dome next door, Matt Black of Coldcut/Ninja Tune fame decided to create a more chilled atmosphere. An old school set that spanned funk, reggae and hip hop through to the sounds of the Ninja Tunes crew themselves it was a welcome respite for dance weary refugees. As the sun set again The Glade once more became illuminated with its jaw-dropping light shows and projections, setting the scene for another night's dance floor madness. The mission of the Glade seems to be holding tight so far; it is the friendliest dance space on site and with any luck it will be a fixture for many years to come.
