The Black Box Theatre
|
The Theatre Marquee seats 900 people and opens at 10.30 a.m. each morning with a puppet show for children, followed by stirring tales from seasoned story-teller Nathaniel Donovan. After that the shows are designed for adults rather than children.
Confirmed acts include :
"The Cholmondeleys and The Featherstonehaughs and The Victims of Death in Smithereens."
The Guardian say: "Any show that comes with a 12-word title hitched to its skirts had better be able to live up to itself. The Cholmondeleys the Featherstonehaughs and and the Victims of Death in Smithereens has the style to carry it off. Concocted in a curious mutant twilight, Smithereens (for short) is an atmospheric and imaginative tour de force that finds Lea Anderson re-uniting her two dance companies - the all-female Chomondeleys and the boys-only Featherstonehaughs - for the first time in seven years. The result is awash with fin de siecle decadence and well worth the wait."
Trestle Theatre Company
"Hanging Around" - incorporates "Creche," about nursery age children, "School Rules" about school children and "Hanging Around" about teenagers - will be presented on all 3 days of the Festival. Trestle's new show "Island" about things that happen on a traffic island will be presented on Saturday and Sunday.
Jonathan Kay : "The Theatre of Now."
"Jonathan tends to remove the whole audience from the Theatre Marquee and take them out on site to do things - one year they sang "Yellow Submarine" to the police, and one notable year, as Jonathan was exhorting a member of the audience to prove his power, the Red Arrows buzzed the field! What magic moments will occur this year?" - Arabella Churchill, Theatre & Circus Co-ordinator
