The Green Futures Field is about EDUTAINMENT -it promotes the synthesis of old and new technologies which form the cutting edge of the Green Lifestyle movement and presents real ideas for the future of our planet. This involves a wide range people together on the field from Architect to Tree Protester. The Green Futures area includes : Green Kids (which is through The Tunnel in the rear of the Greenpeace Field); Permaculture Area, Renewable Technology Venues, Speakers Forum, Low Impact Zone, Poetry and Words Tent and Bookstore, Green Trades, Sculpture, and lots of vegetarian and vegan cafes. The Low Impact Area is the most important part of the field. Here we demonstrate a variety of ways to live more lightly on the earth. Ideas range from ecologically conscious building design and clean transport to renewable energy and growing food. Likely contributors include : Timber Intent A company that builds precision made structures using discarded thinnings from the forest industry, and sculptural effect canvas. Low Impact News Informs and networks people wishing to try low-impact lifestyles. Main expertise: planning law, eco-villages, Permaculture. Campaign for Real Events Reactive sculptures using light and sound, based around the five suns of Aztec mythology, powered by solar energy. The Earth Lodge Delightful Roundhouse In traditional Celtic stylee, a showcase for traditional crafts with a modern use. Workshops , entertainment and relaxation. Groovy Movie Mobile The solar powered cinema and multi-media performance for all. Strung Out Puppets and late night UV show. Solar powered! Animal Aid Create a rainforest mural over the course of the festival with children's help. Rinky Dink Mobile Sun wind and pedal powered bicycle PA. Speakers Forum The main debating chamber for the Festival, where those topical, political, avant garde, scary and difficult issues get an airing. Details are published in the Main and Field Programmes. Ecotrip Featuring workshops with many present day eco activists. Loads of information leaflets , newsletters, etc on what is happening all over the country. A welcoming space buzzing with discussion. Metamorphoses into happening night groove. The Green Party elected its first Members of the European Parliament in 1999 ... Friends Families and Travellers Support Group Nomadic lifestyles in this country are suffering. Why? What's the agenda? Traveller and Woodland skills exhibition. Green Anarchist Taking responsibility for oneself instead of letting the state take responsibility. Their stall will include the latest developments since the notorious Gandalf trial. Tools for Self Reliance Collect and refurbish donated tools and send them to Africa and Central America. Small World Stage Pioneer wind and solar music and performance - set up for the first time at Glastonbury. 'Azel Engineering(sic) Brilliant sculptures in low impact building techniques present "The Dragon". Area 51 Experience first-hand the UFO phenomena. Techno Tribe A dome village of new eco technology. This wacky bunch from Machynlleth are once again bringing people together through sustainable technology and low impact fun. Mandala Stage Rainbows, pedal power, music, dance and that special ingredient - LOVE, form a melting pot of heaven in this new Glastonbury stage. And its also a bit funky. The Land is Ours Chapter 7 of Agenda 21 states "The objective is to provide access to land for all households...through environmentally sound planning."
