Distractions
900 acres is huge and tiring on foot. Not counting any delightful distractions or baggage it takes at least an hour in daylight to walk from end to end of the site. Look for the less obviously popular places to camp. Try to note where you camped in relation to a numbered Fire Point or other fixed point. Disorientation easily sets in - not only to children. The surroundings change dramatically after sunset and when more tents get erected, or crowds gather. Arrange to meet friends at simple places (not the impossible Mixing Tower!) - best would be the Meeting Point or some quieter landmark agreed on the map - and remember that time disappears at the Festival: so be prepared to wait.
Information Points
If you get lost try leaving a message at any or all of the 5 Info Points, and/or with Radio Avalon. The index cards at Info are best for messages. Info can also give you transport details, local towns and Festival information, directions, maps, post cards home, offer succour, handle complaints and compliments, and sell you generic £3 phone cards (the special Glastonbury phone cards will not be avilable this year). The payphones only take phone cards.
A souvenir review of the entertainment is available Monday morning at exits. Advance orders for mailing can be placed at Info Points for £2 (plus p&p;). The free 'Glastonbury Times' can also be picked up at any Info Point, Friday to Sunday.
Medical and Welfare
Lost children are cared for in the Children's Area until 8pm, after which they are taken to Wagonshed Welfare, who also provide experienced, caring and confidential help with all kinds of practical and personal problems and they also deal with lost and found property. For more on Welfare and Medical facilities, see the Information section of the website.
Physical and emotional problems are dealt with by the doctors and nurses of Festival Medical Services, or 'alternatively' in the Greenfield Healing Area.
