Arriving Lightly
By Bus / Coach
National Express are running special coach services for Festival ticket holders from all over the country direct to the Festival Bus Station. Buy coach tickets on the booking line 08705 808080. Travellers without tickets will be expelled from coaches well away from the site.
Badgerline are laying on linked services from Bath and Bristol and a regular shuttle to the site from Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet, depositing you right on site.

For more details on these, and other bus and coach services, click here.

By Rail
There are extra trains to Castle Cary station from where you can catch the free coach shuttle for ticket holders only to the Festival Bus Station. The shuttle runs from Wednesday morning to Monday evening. Train services offered from National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950.
Remember that your destination station is Castle Cary, not Glastonbury!

For more information on rail services, see here.

By Road
If you didn't buy your £5 green levy car parking pass you will not get near the Festival. You will have to get one from where you bought your ticket quoting your reference number or postcode. Put it on the windscreen.

Motoring
There are two main entrances for cars, depending where you are coming from, but if you have a choice - approach from the A303 then A37 (Blue Route), where there is more parking space and less queuing. If at all possible, avoid the peak time between noon and midnight on Thursday. To be really sorted plot your return journey in advance. Worst times to leave by car are Sunday evening and Monday between 9am and 4pm, when long delays can be enjoyed.

From London: M3 then A303 and A37.
From the North East: A1 or M1, M25 to M3 (Junction 12), then A303 and A37.
From the Midlands: Preferably M40 and A34 to A303 and A37.
From the North West: M6, M5 to A39 (Junction 23) then A361.
From Wales: M4, M5 to A39 (as above)
From the West Country: A37 or A361

NOTE: The Festival car parks are all ticket only with no alternative car parking nearby. The car parks just outside the security fence are vast, so each field is numbered to help you remember where your car is parked.
There is absolutely no camping allowed in the car parks.

Disabled access
People with mobility difficulties should follow the Red Route signs (off the A361) to the Drop-Off point near Red Gate. It will be assessed where best to place you in the dedicated parking area and stewarded camping area. It would help if you display an orange or blue disabled sticker. Be aware the site is a hilly dairy farm with rough tracks, harder than most environments.

Don't park on verges, in gateways or private roads - you will be towed away by the Police incurring expense (£140) and great inconvenience. Beware leaving your car unlocked as you either load or unload and leave nothing visible inside (even food and drink). Leave the glove compartment open and conspicuously empty.

Make yourself visible when walking along public roads in the dark.

Campervans, Caravans
Caravans, trailer tents, and campervans are only admitted to the special car parks, along Blue Route (off the A37). A special £35 sticker should be obtained in advance from where you bought your personal ticket for admittance to the dedicated areas, one of which is a family field.

See here for more information about the campervan fields.

Fine Guide 2 : Entering ...
Dropping-off, not parking - updated from printed Fine Guide
There is now only ONE drop off point - at the newly named Yellow Gate, situated just down (towards Glastonbury) from Red Gate on the A361 Please make sure this is the only point used, otherwise lost traffic will clog the tiny lanes.

Traffic News
Check out the Police website (click here) for information on the latest travel situation. Once within range (about 25 miles) Radio Avalon - the Festival radio station - on 87.7 FM is good for traffic news. Be prepared for traffic hold-ups remembering to keep all passengers well watered if the weather is hot, using loos well before the site in case of long waits.

For more information, including directions and maps, see here.

Travelling by public transport makes economic sense, reduces pollution and allows you to beat the queues. Seriously consider leaving your car at home. Come early to pick the choicest spot and get relaxed. Save money and the planet by carsharing.

Or post a message on the Message Boards from this website.

Accelerate gently, arrive safely !
