The plot thickens...

This page is provided only for information, it does not apply to the 2002 festival.
Day Two
And so to Saturday, stacking up as a more mellow, funky kind of thing to start with (King Kooba, rinocerose), later adding breaks (Justin Robertson, Bentley Rhythm Ace) and even a slice of garage from the likes of MJ Cole and Artful Dodger. The tent, though vast, always seems to contain a similarly vast sea of up-for-it people giving out happy dancing vibes (with the exception of a few rogue scallywags). On with the show then, as they say.
King Kooba
Oh the trials of trying to see everything at Glastonbury. I arrived, annoyingly late again, to find I had just missed Deadly Avenger. However, dance tent-ers were being treated to some breakbeat, which can only described as thunderous, courtesy of Tipper. The sound system in this arena is certainly sorted for bowel-shaking bass emmisions. Presently King Kooba take to the stage, opening with a big fat wallowy dollop of lazy-ass funk. Jazzy and R&B; vibes wash over us pleasantly; this could be described as lightweight in places but no-one cares. Cheeky tunes are bringing smiles to everyone's faces, and the sun is shining. It's the perfect backdrop to this lazy summer afternoon.
rinocerose
Mellow yet danceable, rinocerose are a sure-fire winner with our Dance Tent friends. They boast as near a full compliment of instruments as one would be likely to find in a dance venue, with bongos (always a hit at Glastonbury), keyboards, chick bassist, drums, vocals and various hand-held synths, bits and bobs. Atmospheric sweeping and bleeping noises mingle with solid basslines and funky drumming, and even the hardest techno fans can't help tapping their feet. The rest, whether bopping along at the front or chilling out at the back and in the surrounding fields, are lapping it up.
How did I manage to miss Matt Cantor and Kojak? How?!
