Jack and Jill went up the hill

Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down
And broke his crown
And Jill took him to some very nice first aiders in the children's field who patched him up and took him to see the Totally Hanging UV Puppet Theatre.

This magical show of glowing shadow puppets, neon moving props and a fantastic Chemical Brothers soundtrack delighted everyone in the Kidz Theatre Tent. It was a visual triumph combining the best new theatre technology with an old fashioned story line and a brilliant child friendly script

The children's entertainment at Glastonbury is the ONLY truly child oriented kids stuff I have found anywhere. Sadly the prevailing trend in the nasty world outside is to play to the adults in the audience at the expense of the children. The result is often smutty and unintelligent. The festival Kidzone is magnificent. There are not enough superlatives to do justice to the imagination, effort and creativity of the countless staff who smile their way through the day attentively managing the happiness of hundreds of little people.

A candy-striped helter-skelter dominates this cute corner of Glastonbury, towering majestically over swingboats, roundabouts, book rooms, circus skills, mural paintings, trampolines, art rooms, adventure play forts and an exciting Aerial Runway. Two incredibly happy, patient souls, Paul and Vernon, run this ever busy attraction, launching child after child into outer space with never a frown or sigh or cross word . Opportunities for excitement closer to the ground happen several times a day when the conscientious Trestle Theatre Company recruit small volunteers to take part in plays and experience the thrill of performimg live in front of their parents and friends.

Smoking, drinking and dropping litter is strongly discouraged in the Kidz Field. There are child-only loos and an excellent back up team of volunteers supervising the first aid and lost kids areas. The whole place is like Fairyland meets Robin Hood. It is surprisingly peaceful. There is a certain joy to be had sitting on clean grass on a sunny afternoon surrounded by a kaleidescope of vibrant colours, listening to children laughing and watching them set about the business of having the best time ever
