 Unauthorised Tickets Sales

It has come to our attention that a Jersey based company is selling tickets for the 2003 Glastonbury Festival via their website.

TICKETS ARE NOT YET ON SALE FOR THE FESTIVAL AND IN ALL EVENTS THE FESTIVAL IS SUBJECT TO BEING LICENSED BY MENDIP COUNCIL.

We highly recomend that you do not purchase tickets from this company as there is NO GUARANTEE that you will recieve any tickets. It is anticipated that early next Spring tickets will be on sale via the proper channels and details will be available from this web site of how to get them.

I am not publicising the name of this company as they clearly are trying to profit from the hard work of all who make Glastonbury happen. As this site has no tickets there is no possibility that money you would pay over - which seems to include an exorbitant mark up - would go to the good causes that the Glastonbury Festival supports.

However as their web site claims that they have friendly customer services I thought I would put some of these questions to them via their live chat server.

Please wait for a site operator to respond.
You are now chatting with 'sales2'
sales2: Welcome to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.com LIVE! help system. You are now speaking with someone from our call center in Jersey.
you: hello i am interested in tickets for glastonbury festival 2003
sales2: prices and availability are von the site
you: i didnt understand how you can be selling them if no licesne has been agreed yet. Will there be a refund if the festival doesn't go ahead?
sales2:THEY HAVE BEEN GRANTED ONE EVERY OTHER YEAR SO IT SHOULD BE OKAY IF NOT WE WILL ISSUE A FULL REFUND
you: cool - yes I think they will get a license, are you authorised to sell tickets?
sales2: THANK YOU
you: what for?
sales2: WE ARE VERY BUSY GOODBYE

For the record I want to state now that this company has absolutely no authority to sell these tickets. A license has not yet been agreed with Mendip District Council, and companies like this can only harm the Festival's interests. The Festival makes no assumption that it will get a license.

The Festival has now involved Trading Standards in this matter.
