'The markets are a performance in themselves, adding colour and light to an already intense experience. The variety is incredible and you could spend your entire visit searching for their secrets' - Glastonbury '92
Wander into the markets and you walk into a different world - it would take a month to explore it all and there would still be more to find.
This year Glastonbury Festival sifted through over 3,000 applications for just 750 stalls. The volume of applications ensures that the variety, value for money and quality now expected of the festival markets is ensured.
There can be few places on earth where you can buy anything from a candle-powered boat (Q1/02) to beautiful scrap metal sculptures (Toasy N/06) or woodcarving's (Matthew Calder M2/12) to an executive lizard (I3/05) or Crystal deodorant (Guaranteed more than just the Lynx effect P/07b). Where you can spice up your wardrobe with something from Emma Levine's (J3/16) or a truly funky recycled top from Funky Chick (M1/04) with accessories from Silver Fish (D2/03a). Where you can treat yourself to fairy wings from Save the Pixies (N/04) or a belly dancing costume from Punch & Jewellery (K1/07). Where you can have you hair plaited with ribbons by Queen B (K1/10) or a temporary tattoo at Halawa Henna (M1/06) or even a UV look at Eden 23 (B1/12).
Watch the world go by from under the trees with a glass of hot spicy cider from the Cider Bus (A1/01) and a traditional Somerset Ploughmans served by the local Pilton Football Club A1/03. Or sample some delicacies from one of the many caterers at the festival, to name just a few: Yam the Cassava (D3/10) will be providing Creole Food; the Aussie Steak Bar (B2/11 or J3/06) ironically run by a vegetarian; Hiroshima Pancakes - wonderful Japanese cuisine without the sushi (B4/02)! Purely Organic - bringing us organic trout for the first time (H1/02); Trof café (J4/10)promise us some true culinary delights or if its chai you are after call into Chai Wallahs (P/03or I3/21), one of several chai tents at the festival. For a vegetarian feast Yum Tum (F2/03) is hard to beat. Kosy Kitchen (I2/15)will be serving chicken tikka or if you would like to sample Indian cuisine in style pop along to Café Lazeez at J2/02. There is a campsite café at hand day or night for that burger, hot dog or all day breakfast.
Sastisfy that sweet tooth - Rose Cottage Fudge (D2/02) bring their own hand made varieties of delicious crumbly fudge; Yeo Valley Farm (F1/06) are there to tempt you with organic ice cream, sorbets, yoghurts and fromage frais or you could head for Witchers Cookies (F2/02)
Glastonbury Festival always encourages new talent be it designers or performers, this year there is a new showcase in the Prince's Trust marquee at F3/02.
This is just a selection - but its much more fun to find your own. If you have a favourite let us know.
