Primal Scream

We all scream for the Scream

Other Stage - Friday

The Scream have probably seen a fair few festivals in their time. In fact, they’ve done a heck of a lot of touring of late, so it was a relief to see them looking so fresh and, well, pleased to be here, headlining the Other Stage for Friday.

With a setlist that drew predominantly from their last two albums, the dark, aggressive XTMNTR and Evil Heat, they were on fire, frontman Bobby Gillespie having difficulty standing still and dancing like only he can do, leaving no part of the stage untouched.

Credit must go to the rest of the band, too, in particular fairly recent recruit Mani on bass – what a sound! And it wasn’t all newer material – they knew that chucking in Movin’ on Up and encoring with Loaded was just the right thing to do here, and so right they were!
